Book #1: Walking with God in the Classroom, H. Van Brummelen
Hello!
Walking with God in the Classroom: Christian Approaches to Learning & Teaching, by Harro Van Brummelen (1984), was gifted to me a number of years back. Although this book is 37 years old, I think that there are principles of Christian education that will never change. I am excited to explore what Van Brummelen has to offer!
Van Brummelen was both a professor and dean at Trinity Western University's School of Education. He has worked extensively in the areas of Christian pedagogy and curriculum development in British Columbia, Canada. I look forward to having both a Canadian and Christian approach to education. Having studied education through a secular university myself, I am always looking for Christian perspectives on education! Further, many educational resources and books come from the United States. While they offer many helpful insights, the educational landscape and setup are often different, leading to slight disconnects.
